Fortesen LLC · Independent software company

Software that shows its work.

We build focused tools for financial decisions — for finance teams who live in spreadsheets, and for households deciding which cards belong in their wallet. Every product explains its reasoning, asks for as little of your data as it can, and is free to try.

01Products

Two products, both in production.

Each one does a single job well, for a specific kind of user — and each is run, supported, and improved by the same small team.

SheetSift

Spreadsheet risk intelligence · Finance and FP&A teams

Find the risk in a workbook before it reaches the board.

SheetSift scans Excel workbooks for the problems that quietly break financial models — broken references, hardcoded assumptions, circular dependencies — and turns them into a scored, prioritized report written for the people who sign off on the numbers.

What it checks
15 automated checks, from broken references and hardcoded values to volatile functions, external links, and hidden sheets
Your files
Parsed statically. Macros, VBA, and formulas are never executed, and deleting your account removes your content
What you get
A weighted risk score, a dependency map, and an assessment PDF written for the committee, usually in under two minutes
Pricing
Free tier with no credit card. Paid plans for higher volume and teams

OptimalCardSetup

Credit card portfolio optimizer · Households and individuals

Choose credit cards as a portfolio, not from a ranking.

OptimalCardSetup models your spending against a dated catalog of card terms — reward rates, caps, credits, and annual fees — and uses a constraint solver to find the combination with the highest net annual value. A card only makes the cut if it earns its fee.

How it decides
Constraint optimization (CP-SAT). Every result reports whether optimality was proven or the time limit was reached first
Your data
Rough monthly spending only. No bank login, no card numbers, and no account needed for the free optimizer
Independence
Affiliate commissions are never solver inputs or ranking criteria. Card terms are reviewed against issuer sources and dated
Pricing
The core optimizer is free. Premium adds larger portfolios, alternatives, and sensitivity analysis

02Principles

How we build.

Four commitments that apply to everything we ship. Each one is backed by something you can check in the products today.

  1. Show the work.

A recommendation is only as useful as the reasoning behind it. Our products explain how they reached an answer, in language the person acting on it can follow.

In practice: OptimalCardSetup states whether each result was proven optimal. SheetSift explains every finding in business terms, not error codes.

  2. Ask for as little data as possible.

We design each product to work with the minimum information it needs — and never ask for credentials it doesn’t.

In practice: OptimalCardSetup never asks for bank logins or card numbers. SheetSift reads workbook structure without running macros or formulas.

  3. Keep recommendations independent.

How we earn money should never change what our software tells you to do.

In practice: Affiliate commissions are not an input to OptimalCardSetup’s solver or its rankings, and the site discloses its affiliate relationships.

  4. Let people try before they pay.

You should be able to judge a tool on your own numbers before anyone asks for a card.

In practice: Both products can be used free, with no credit card required.

03Company

Small and independent, by design.

Fortesen is an independent software company. We design, build, and operate every product ourselves — the models, the infrastructure, and the support inbox.

Staying small keeps us close to the people who rely on our software and accountable for every number it produces. When you write to one of our products, the people who built it are the ones who answer.
